So the biggest negative aspect of outsourcing that people think about, especially in the United States, is the loss of numerous jobs to developing countries in order to save costs. Organizations that might be perfectly happy without outsourcing are being backed into a corner. In order to maintain a competitive advantage, or at the very least to keep up with the pack, these companies feel like they absolutely have to outsource, outsource, outsource...
What is your opinion on this? Are companies really backed in a corner with no other option but to outsource? Or is it just the easiest way to cut costs? On an ethical point, is it worth it to save money but cost people there jobs and their livelihoods? Where is the line ultimately drawn?
Check out my post... Companies would do well to outsource, It saves costs while motivating Americans to do more with less. I admit that tuition costs are higher in the US as compared to institutions abroad. I think the majority of U.S. workers are not willing to give as much of themselves as overseas workers. That doesn't settle well with me. What happened to the hard working American employee? I believe an American should be willng to work harder than a non citizen and be competitive with those overseas. However a growing sense of entitlement has creaped into many of the unemployed in the U.S. and I believe it is unmatched anywhere else in the world except possibly France. Now, do companies believe they absolutely must outsource to remain competitive? No, i don't think that is the case, as Dr. Scharz pointed out on thursday some companies simply offer the best there is and some companies simply have to have it. I would argue that the resources available to those American companies would provide the best there is. If there is anything that America is known for, it's not being outdone.
